Digging Deep for Charity
Date: 21/03/2010
Venue: Bonwick Family Centre
Digging Deep for Charity

At 2.30pm on Sunday 21st March at Bonwick Family Centre on Lezayre Road Ramsey we will be teaching you how to turn your lawn into a raised bed vegetable patch (easy method no digging), & how to plant a fruit tree well!.

Transition North have very kindly gifted two fruit trees which will be planted in the grounds of Bonwick, and will be used for the demonstration.

Michelle O’Malley, the charity’s fundraising manager said, ‘We hope residents of the north of the Island will come and support this event and maybe learn a little something on the way.’

There will be refreshments and facepainting available, and all children will get the chance to plant their own seeds and take this away with them.

Lawrence Rea and Mill Millichap, both experienced gardeners, and members of Transition North, will also be on hand to offer advice and information out to budding gardeners.

Entry is free so bring the family along.

Ends

The Children’s Centre to Coordinate the Island’s First Adventure Race
Date: 27/03/2010
Venue: Sulby Valley
Sulby Valley and the surrounding area is set to be the location of the Island’s first ever Adventure Race on Saturday 27th March 2010.

Mark Eastham Adventure Events Coordinator at The Children’s Centre said “The close proximity of the steep valleys; woodland and remote mountainous areas provide the perfect environment for Adventure Racing. This event will consist of three demanding stages: a 6km trail run, 10km Mountain Biking and a further 3.5km trail run, and can be entered as an individual or a team. The racing is all off-road so the going can get tough: but that’s what Adventure Racing is all about”.
